Programs overview

All of our support services, tools, and programs reflect our commitment to providing excellent child welfare services. We strive to continually improve our practices in order to ensure the best outcomes for the families, youth, and children in our community and in our care. The following programs assist us in addressing specific needs of the families we help.

The Children’s Aid Society of Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry believes that all families keep their children safe most of the time. We trust that the family is the expert so, when parenting challenges do arise, we focus on helping them achieve their goals. We assist parents in developing the skills and confidence necessary to keep their children safe and extinguish undesired problems in the home.

Permanency planning is a priority for the Children’s Aid Society of Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry. The goal of permanency is for every child, youth and young adult to have a safe, nurturing, and permanent family with lifelong connections. All three elements are essential to a healthy development.

The Children’s Aid Society of Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry launched a new program called Family Finding. The purpose of the program is to create life-long connections between children and youth living in care and family members or other adults in their circle. Our goal is to help these individuals develop and carry out a plan for helping children and youth achieve emotional and legal permanency.

Feedback Informed Treatment (FIT) is a way of working with families that will allow the Society to receive comments from adults and youth about the service that they are receiving.

Education is a very significant part of a child or youth’s healthy development and well-being and remains a primary focus of our service. Our goal is to improve educational outcomes for the children in our care, providing them with equal or greater opportunities to their peers as they enter into adulthood and leave our care.

Triple P - Positive Parenting Program is intended for anyone caring for a child. The Children’s Aid Society of Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry is one of several community partners offering the program.
